Andrew Pomerville has served as the senior pastor at The Peoples Church of East Lansing since July 2011. As a proud Gen Xer, he struggles to balance cynicism and faith, sarcasm and sincerity, and authenticity and transparency. The multidenominational congregation he serves tries to live into their calling to be a community that welcomes all people to connect, grow, serve, and share through the love of God.
The Peoples Church is a multi-denominational congregation, founded in 1907 just off the campus of Michigan State University. It is officially a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Methodist Church, the American Baptist Church, and the United Church of Christ.
Our statement of faith is reaffirmed each time we celebrate baptism or welcome new members to the church. It reads:
“We believe the teachings of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and with the help of God, we will strive daily to live the life of purity, unselfishness and service which He exemplified to the world.”
